Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In early July 2008, Parquets Marty, the French subsidiary of the Swede group Nybron Flooring International, was put into receivership for insolvency. The bankruptcy court of Villeneuve-sur-Lot presented a reorganization plan that foresees the suppression of 171 jobs out of the existing 496 posts based in Cuzorn (Lot-et-Garonne).
The Court will examine this proposal in September. However, it seems that some unions representatives are in dispute concerning the modalities of the reorganization plan. The number of job cuts could thus change, depending on the results of the topical negociations with (and between) the unions.
