Description

The management of Hungarian Television (MTV) has announced a mass redundancy of up to 250 employees. Negotiations with the works council are to follow in the coming weeks about the exact number of job losses and conditions of dismissals. The reason behind the planned job reductions is the radical change in MTV's programming policy. In addition, MTV will move to new headquarters in 2009. As a result, in the meantime fewer broadcasts will be produced in-house and some expenses will be adjusted (e.g. wages). MTV’s management informed both the works council and the Budapest Employment Centre about the planned reductions back in December of 2007.
