Description

US automotive parts company Delphi Corporation will create 150 new jobs by the end of 2008 by offshoring its production from two of the company’s factories in Western Europe to its plant in Szombathely. The company will hire former employees of a local shoe factory that closed down several years ago. Delphi Hungary, which currently employs 800, manufactures steering wheels and electronic systems for windows, seats and blinkers at its Electronics and Safety division. Delphi Hungary has also plans to extend its Electronics and Safety division by renting additional space. Delphi’s Hungarian unit will start supplying steering wheels to Volkswagen, Smart, SEAT, Audi and Mitsubishi, among others, in early 2009.
