On 1 July 2008, Distrigaz Sud has announced continuation of its restructuring programme and the loss of another 1,000 jobs through voluntary redundancies. The company representatives did not provide at that date the details of redundancy payments to employees leaving the company.
On 14 August the company announced that around 17 million euros were paid to 1,645 employees who opted for voluntary redundancies packages initiated on June 2008.
The employees who opted for this programme got 7-18 gross basic monthly salaries plus 8,000 lei in compensation and support for a potential career change and the possibility to take part in training programmes.
