Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Contact Company has announced that it is to create 150 new jobs with the expansion of its call centre in Birkenhead. The company undertakes call centre activities on behalf of clients such as The Jewellery Channel, Woolworths and Comic Relief. The new jobs will be both full and part time and have been welcomed by local Councillor Jean Stapleton who stated that the move was a “fantastic jobs boost for Wirral". As of July 2008, there is no information on when either employment at the call centre will commence or the new jobs will be created by.
