Elana of Toruń, Poland’s largest producer of polyesters and polymers, has embarked on a programme of collective redundancies geared at cutting 600 jobs out of a current workforce of 1,500. As of June 2008, there is no information when the job losses will be implemented by. The company, a member of the Boryszew corporate group, has been struggling in the face of competition by producers from Asia and from other Central European countries.
