European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Preciosa, which produces cut glass, bijouterie and crystal elements for lamps, will close its production plant in Tlmače with a loss of 300 jobs. The company started laying off employees in March and according to the production plant’s CEO, Roman Homola, the production division will end operations completely by the end of June 2008 when all 300 jobs will be gone. The operation of the sales division will, however, continue. Reasons for the closure have not yet been announced. The Czech company has been operating in the area for 40 years.
