Description

DFDS Seaways, a passenger ferry company, has announced that it is to cut 340 jobs with its decision to stop ferry services between Tyneside and Scandinavia from 1st September. It has blamed poor passenger numbers, the rising price of oil and the economic downturn for its decision to cut services and jobs. A total of 340 jobs will be lost in total, with 270 crew jobs on the Queen of Scandinavia ferry and an additional 70 land-based jobs in Denmark, Norway and the UK.
