Description

Avent Slovakia, which produces sterile blankets and coats for the health care sector in Piešťany will close its plant and dismiss all 857 employees by the end of 2008. According to the CEO, Vladimír Zelenay, the closure is caused by increasing local labour costs and strengthening of the SKK/US Dollar exchange rate, which worsened the competitiveness of the production. Production will be delocalised to China where local labour costs allow better competitiveness of products in the global market. Avent Slovakia is a subsidiary of American giant Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
