Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Gambro Czech Republic, a subsidiary of the Swedish global medical technology company, has announced that it will create 800 new jobs by the end of 2009 by expanding bloodlines manufacturing facilities at its Přerov plant. Gambro presently employs 700 people, mostly women, at the Přerov site. The company has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1993, employing just 20 employees when it started. The facility manufactures products for dialysis providers in the Czech Republic as well worldwide. Following the planned expansion, the Přerov plant will be the world largest Gambro plant and it is expected to produce about 50% of bloodlines globally when at maximum capacity.
