Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The aircraft producer Aleia has announced the creation of approximately 100 new jobs by the end of 2011 by developing a new unit for the design and production of ultralight planes and jet planes in Covilhã with an investment of EUR 10 million. The new unit is expected to be operational in 2009. Aleia is a joint venture between DynAéro (a French producer of light planes already established in Ponte Sor in Portugal) EquipAéro (a French manufacturer of aeronautic equipment with its headquarters in Toulouse), Spinworks (a Portuguese centre of aeronautic studies based in Lisbon) and Plasdan (a Portuguese producer of moulds based in Marinha Grande). A close collaboration with Beira University (UBI) is also foreseen.
