Description

Roche, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies, has announced that it is to cut 101 jobs out of 1,900 workers employed in Italy. The job cuts will mainly affect the sales division of the company and are included in the reorganisation plan that the Roche Italia announced in January 2008. In Italy, Roche has more than 1,000 salesmen and two plants (the biggest one is located at Segrate, in the province of Milan, and it employs around 400 workers).

On 18 March 2008, Roche Italia announced an agreement with Innovex srl, one the world’s leading contract sales organisation, providing pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device customers with sales solutions. The agreement provides the joint management of marketing and sales’ activities for five Roche pharmaceutical products. Moreover, the agreement envisages that 51 out of 101 redundant workers will be hired by Innovex srl. The trade unions have expressed their satisfaction with the contents of the agreement.

The Roche group is a leading healthcare company in the fields of pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. It employs around 78,000 people and sells its products in over 150 countries. In Italy, it employs around 1,900 people.
