European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
German Media Markt, Europe's largest retailer of consumer electronics with numerous branches throughout Europe is planning to open seven new department stores in Sweden. This expansion constitutes an important part of the plan of Media Markt to become the leading retailer of consumer electronics in the country. Exact dates on the openings have not yet been set. Every new store is expected to increase the size of the company by 80 new employees creating a total of 600 new jobs. At the end of 2008 Media Markt will have a total of 13 stores in Sweden. The locations of the new stores will be geographically scattered across Sweden.
