Description
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, a multi-national group that produces medical equipment, has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs at its site in Gwynedd in North Wales. Approximately 300 are currently employed at the Gwynedd site, and 'reagents', that are used on blood analysers in hospitals to diagnose medical conditions, are produced at the site. The new jobs will be created by February 2010. The announcement of the creation of the new jobs follows Siemens moving part of its production in its plant in Los Angeles in the U.S. to the Gwynedd plant. Ieuan Wyn Jones, Deputy First Minister of the Welsh Assembly Government, said that the announcement was a 'truly remarkable tribute' to the quality of the employees at the Gwynedd plant and a 'telling testimonial to the competitiveness of Wales as a great place to do business.'
Steve Britton, the Managing Director of Siemens, stated:
'We plan to double our production capability by hiring new employees and adding highly-automated equipment without expanding the footprint of the facility.'
Mr. Britton also stated that the firm would seek to recruit semi-skilled workers and highly qualified scientists.
