European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 17 January 2008, Cosun announced it will close it's sugar producing plant in Groningen. For a small part, the production will be transferred to another plant nearby. About 100 jobs will be lost. Cosun expects there will be no forced dismissals, because the employees can be hired by other Cosun plants in the region. Background to the closure is the EC measures to decrease the production of sugar.
