Description
Waitrose has announced that it is to close its branch in Gates Shopping Centre, Durham with the lost of over 100 jobs. The store opened in November 2005, but its closure has been attributed to the fact that it has traded at a loss since it opened. The company announced that it hopes that some staff will be transferred to their new store planned to open in Newcastle in the summer rather than losing their jobs.
