Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Flextronics, a provider of electronic manufacturing services, has announced that it is to cut 75 new jobs at its production site in Östersund by the end of April 2008. The factory affected by the restructuring manufactures electrical nodes for telecom nets and currently employs 300. The reason for the job cuts is a decrease in incoming orders. The company described the measure as a way of preparing for the future in a business with varying demands and high level of innovation.
