Description

Saab, a multi-national manufacturer of motor vehicles, has announced that it is to cut 140 jobs at its site in Trollhättan. 4500 are employed at the Trollhättan site, and the job losses will be implemented by the end of June 2008. Management at the plant attribute the job losses to the need to cut costs in a competitive business environment. 100 of the 140 jobs that will be lost are in the area of metalworking. In 2006, Saab dismissed 200 at its Trollhättan site, and management have stated that more job reductions are likely in the future. The Saab plant at Trollhättan manufactures the Saab 9-3 and Saab 9-5 models. 2400 of the 4500 workers employed at the plant work in production.
