T-Mobile Austria, a subsidiary of the German-based Deutsche Telekom, has announced job reductions affecting 250 employees. 131 employees will lose their jobs and 120 jobs will be lost by non-filling future vacancies within the years to come. This was confirmed by the company’s CEO on the day when advance warning of the collective dismissals was given to the Labour Market Service (AMS). The staff reductions will, in particular, affected the headquarters in Vienna, whereas the sales division shall partially be extended. The aim of the management is to save on labour costs in order to remain competitive. Currently, the company employs some 1,650 workers in Austria. According to the management, a social plan for the employees concerned has been negotiated with the works council.
