Description
Grampian Country Foods, a firm that manufactures poultry products, has announced that it is to close its site in Attleborough in Norfolk with the loss of 300 jobs. The firm has attributed the closure to a decline in the sales of the breaded poultry products that the plant produces. The site is scheduled to close at the end of February 2008, and management at the plant have began a 90-day consultation process with staff. The firm has also said that affected staff may be offered jobs at other plants the firm operates. Tom Strang, Managing Director of the firm, stated: ‘With representatives of the workforce we have examined every alternative for the site. However, due to the decline in the breaded and coated poultry sector and the unprofitable nature of this business regrettably we have come to the decision to close the Attleborough facility.’
