Description

Sanmina-SCI Tourlaville, a firm that manufactures metal components for the telecommunications sector, is to close its site in Cherbourg with the loss of 300 jobs. The Cherbourg site will close by the end of March 2008, and production at the site will be ‘offshored’ to Hungary and Thailand. Sanmina-SCI Corp, the parent company of Sanmina-SCI Tourlaville, has attributed the decision to close the site to increased competition, an increase in costs, and a decline in global demand.
