European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Arcelor Packaging, part of the Mittal Steel group, will have to reduce 40 % of its production by the end of 2008. Only 70 to 80 jobs will be kept on the site of Tilleur to ensure the remaining part of the production. For now, the management have not yet planned how to deal with the future industrial plan. However, according to a trade union delegate, a large number of early retirements and voluntary redundancies will take place in order to avoid direct dismissals.
