Description
Micronas, a Swiss-based semiconductor manufacturer, has announced that it is to cut 130 jobs at its production sites in Germany (Freiburg and Munich) and Austria (Villach). The decision is attributed to a decline in the sales. The company says that in the long run only the semiconductor manufacturing for the automotive industry will stay at Freiburg. Chip manufacturing was already delocated to China. Another 50 jobs will be lost at the sites in either Singapur or Novi Sad (Israel).
As of October 2007, there is no information on when the jobs cuts will be implemented.
