Description
Fresca Group, a firm which produces and supplies fresh fruit and vegetables, is to create 550 new jobs in Thanet in Kent with the development of a new site. Fresh salad will be grown at the site, and seven large greenhouses will be constructed on the site for this purpose. The site will be known as ‘Thanet Earth’, will involve an investment of 80 million GBP, and will measure 91 hectares. Chris Mack, Chairman of Fresca Group, stated that it had taken ‘a committed team’ to develop and plan the idea for the new site. He stated:
‘We've worked closely with Thanet Council who have been very keen to attract this level of investment to help secure an agricultural future for the area.’
The construction of the new site is scheduled to begin in March 2008. As of September 2007 there is no specific information on when employment at the site will commence.
