The Dutch central Government is to implement 12,800 job losses across the Dutch civil service. The job losses will affect all of the different ministries, and will also affect locations across the Netherlands. 165,000 are employed by the Dutch central Government, and the decision to cut the jobs is attributable to a decision by the Dutch coalition Government to streamline the operations of the central Government. Ter Horst, the Dutch Minister of Interior Affairs, has stated that direct dismissals will probably not be necessary. The operation will cost 500 million EUR, however 630 million EUR a year will be saved as a result of the job losses. As of September 2007, there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by.
