Description

Cap Gemini, an I.T. consultancy multi-national, is to create 2,000 jobs in Iasi with the construction of a new services centre. The firm intends to recruit around 2,000 I.T. specialists in the region from September 2007. One of the reasons that Cap Gemini intends to establish the centre in Iasi is due to the low costs associated with the region, that are around 25-40% lower than in Bucharest. Another reason is the skilled workforce within the region. Eugen Schwab-Chesaru, a managing director at Pierre Audoin Consultants Romania stated, ‘Iasi delivers almost 12% of university graduates from the state education system, which positions it just ahead of Cluj, and at a small distance away from Bucharest,’ Cap Gemini provides consulting, outsourcing and IT support services in approximately 30 countries. Its turnover in the first quarter of 2007 was 2.21 billion EUR.
