RPC Containers, a firm that manufactures plastic packaging and is part of the RPC Group, is to close its plant in Hereford with the loss of 150 jobs. The firm has stated that it is not possible for the factory to make a profit. The work carried out at the Hereford site will be transferred to the 12 other sites that the RPC Group operates in Europe and the U.S. The site, based in the Rotherwas Industrial Estate in Hereford, will close in November 2007 following a 90 day consultation period.
