Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Ministry for National Education and Vocational Training has announced that between August and September 2007 2,700 new employees will be recruited to work in French schools. The new workers will assume the position of ‘auxiliary of school life’ (Auxiliaires de vie scolaire, AVS), and will work within schools with children and youths with special educational needs. The employees will be recruited on fixed-term contracts, and will be remunerated at the level of the national minimum wage. The recruitment of an extra 2,700 AVS grade employees will increase the number of such employees within French schools to 16,300.
