Description

On 10 March 2008, ALNO, a German kitchen manufacturer, unveiled the details of its cost cutting plan announced in spring 2007 and stated that the management and the company works council agreed on the setting up of a social plan affecting 206 employees working at the firm's headquarters in Pfullendorf. According to the social plan, redundant employees will be transferred to a specialized employment agency by April 2008 which will help them to find new jobs and offer training opportunities.

In spring 2007 ALNO announced an immediate cost cutting plan leading to the loss of 300 jobs (180 administrative personnel and 120 temporary workers) out of 2,250 in Germany.

ALNO generated a slight rise in turnover to reach EUR 615.5 million in 2006, but had a loss of EUR 13.9 million in pre-tax earnings which have triggered the planned job cuts. Apart from this measure, the new CEO announced a 'Lean Management Programme' that will lead to further restructuring measures throughout the international structures of the corporation.
