European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Arvin meritor is a subcontractor of the site of Volkswagen in Belgium, concerned recently by a prominent restructuring. VW was the only client of Arvin Meritor, which assembled the doors of the polo and golf. The reorganisation of the production at VW led to the production of 46,000 cars a year while the production was 200,000 a year, which is not enough for Arvin Meritor to survive.
The management announced at the beginning of May the planned closure of the firm for the 20th July 2007 which will lead to 144 lost jobs.
