Description
The Indian company Videocon plans to dismiss 30% of the 3,300 persons employed at its picture tube factory in Piaseczno by Warsaw. The elimination of import duties on picture tubes produced in China has led to a drop in demand for Videocon’s products. One production line will be stopped entirely, and the output of the remaining ones will be reduced. The trade unions hope that the employees affected by the downsizing can continue to work until the end of May 2007.
