Primondo, the mail order business unit of Karstadt-Quelle group, announced the closure of its call centre in Nürnberg. Around 800 employees currently working there will lose their jobs by the end of 2007. Primondo plans to open up a new call centre, but its location is still unknown. However, the 800 employees affected in Nürnberg will be able to apply for a position at the new call centre. Primondo stated that wages will be lower at the new call centre. The job cuts and the opening of a new call centre are part of Karstadt-Quelle group’s internal restructuring programme. The United Service Union announced protests against the job reductions.
