Description

NXP, a producer of semiconductors for electronic devices from the Netherlands, announced its plans to close down its site in Boeblingen at the end of 2007. 550 employees will be affected by the closure. The reason given for the decision is the low production load in Boeblingen. Therefore, a great part of the manufacturing will be transferred to other sites in Hamburg (Germany) and Nijmengen (Netherlands). The company wants to set up a social plan for the affected employees. Talks with the trade union and works council are underway. NXP employs approximately 37,000 employees worldwide.
