Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 1 March 2007, the 'Konin' coal mine in Kleczew began the implementation of a voluntary employment termination programme which is expected to affect 300 employees and will have a cost of 13 million PLN. The company currently employs 4,500 people. An employee who agrees to leave the mine in the framework of the programme will receive, by way of severance pay, the equivalent amount to his/her annual remuneration in 2006. Until now some 400 employees have expressed their interest.
