Description
In 2006, the leading company in Estonian dairy product market Tallinna Piimatööstus, founded in 1893, changed its name to Tere Ltd. and sold its production hall in Tallinn. The company has not decided yet if the production will be moved to Paide or Viljandi. The exact schedule will be set in autumn 2007 but in 2009, only directors and clerical workers will work in Tallinn. In addition it is not clear yet how many workers will be needed in the new location.
About 100 of current workers of the company may lose their jobs because of the relocation. On the one hand Tere Ltd. is interested in relocating as many employees as possible and therefore plans to negotiate with employees for their transfer. On the other hand Tere Ltd plans to find other enterprises to collaborate in finding new job opportunities for the employees and also in providing retraining if needed.
