Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ABB Ltd. supplies products and systems for power transmission, process and industrial automation, and is operating in Estonia since 1992. The ABB Group is present in more than 100 countries and employs about 108,000 people. In Estonia, in February 2007 the company employed 730 people operating in 10 different locations. More than 90% of the production in Estonia is exported.
During 2007, due to increasing demand for the company's products the production space will be expanded and in February ABB was announced to hire 200 new employees. As in June 2007 the demand is still increasing the company will expand its production even more than initially planned. Therefore, the company decided to hire not 200 but 300 new employees by the end of year 2007.
