Description

ASML, a manufacturer of machines for the production of integrated circuits or chips, announced on 17 January 2007 that it is going to invest in a new factory in Veldhoven and create 300 direct jobs in the Netherlands. Every new job at ASML is expected to create another 2.5 to 3 jobs at their suppliers and therefore an employment growth of 1,000 jobs is expected in the Noord-Brabant region. Last year ASML had some 5,600 employees worldwide, half of which were working in the Netherlands. CFO Peter Wennink announced that ASML wants to grow by 10% in 2007. Due to difficulties finding new employees in the Netherlands, ASML will try to attract foreign workers.
