Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish group Grimaldi, owner Cycleurope, a manufacturer of bicycles located in Romilly sur Seine, announced on 31 January 2007 to the works council that 141 jobs will be cut before 1 January 2010. Cycleurope manufactures 360,000 bicycles per year and currently employs 347 people. The Swedish group Grimaldi also manufactures bicycles in China, where its activity is expected to increase due to their lower production costs. The trade unions are opposed to this decision.
