Description

Local government of Zala county in the South west of Hungary is planning a 10% cut in the workforce of institutions operated by the county authority. The redundancies are likely to affect 27 institutions operating in the area of education, health care and culture, announced the president of the county council, but so far it is not clear which ones. The public was informed of the planned dismissals in a newspaper ad. Apart from dismissals on a county level, redundancies are expected in institutions operated by local governments of three major cities in the county: Nagykanizsa, Keszthely and Zalaegerszeg. The reason behind the restructuring is a 1.5 billion HUF decrease in the local governments' budget as a result of the central government's attempts to streamline Hungarian public administration system.
