On 15 December 2006, the bank insurer ING announced that it had contracted out the management of thousands of places of work to a Dutch consortium, consisting of among others Accenture, Atos Origin, Getronics and KPN. The contract includes the delivery and the maintenance of computers, printers and fax machines and also internet telephony. This contract, of 750 mln. Euro, is signed for a period of seven years and will have effect on approximately 53,000 working places in the Benelux.
These developments are part of a efficiency program which was announced in 2005 for the ING Operations & IT organisation of the Benelux countries. According to ING, this program which consists of three contracts, is now almost finalised. Altogether the three contracts have led to a cost saving of 460 mln. Euro. The allocation of tasks in the Dutch consortium is divided as follows: KPN is going to deliver the network facilities, whereby Getronics will provide assistance in the support and will also be responsible for the delivery of the equipment and Atos Origin for the servers. Accenture is responsible for the coordination of IT-services. In total, 430 jobs will be transferred to IT-contractors. According to the expectations this program will save about 230 mln. Euro each year.
A week earlier, ING announced that the handling of bank statements will be transferred to Astrom (UK) for the next seven years. Due to this contract, 750 employees, mainly in the Netherlands but also in Belgium and Poland, will be transferred to Astrom
