Description

The solar energy company NorSun is a daughter company of Scatec and was established in December 2005. In June 2006 NorSun entered into an agreement with Årdal Framtid to build a plant in Årdal for production of silicon wafers. In August 2006 the decision was taken to build a plant, and in early December 2006 it was clear that the company had reached NOK 650 million through an emission, making it possible to build a plant employing about 100 workers. Amongst the investors are Norsk Hydro, Good Energies and Itochu. On 16 December 2006 Innovasjon Norge decided to support the company with NOK 30 million. Innovasjon Norge is a state owned company that offers products and services intended to help boost innovation in business and industry nationwide and foster regional development.

The production launch is estimated in the first quarter of 2008.
