Description
Fife council have granted planning permission to a firm that propose to build an 800,000 square foot site in Calais Muir, Dunfermline. The site is likely to create more than 300 permanent jobs, rising to 1,000 at seasonal peaks. The facility would be open 24 hours a day and would deal with incoming and outgoing goods and storage. Car parking for 500 employees' cars is included in the approved application. The bid for planning permission was lodged in the name of a newly-created company, MG Dunfermline.
In a report to councillors, Fife Council planning officials said: 'The applicants chose Calais Muir as it provides an optimal location from which to expand their UK operations, with immediate access to a large workforce and the strategic road network.'
'In terms of employment, the facility envisages an initial workforce of around 300 permanent employees, with a seasonal increase of temporary positions taking that to around 1,000 employees.'
