Restructuring events
European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
SEB, the French company that makes household appliances, announced on 8 December 2006 that it has signed an agreement to sell its factory in Vecoux (Vosges) to Modulex, the Canadian company that makes wood framed houses. There are plans to create about 500 jobs at Modulex between September and December 2007, including at least 200 that will be reserved for the previous employees of SEB who worked in the unit before it closed.
In January 2006, SEB closed down several business units as part of a reorganisation plan in response to the company's falling sales in France and the rest of Europe. The plan will be implemented until the end of 2008 and regards the loss of 890 job cuts.
