Description
The world consortium Silpro (Silicium de Provence) announced on 4 December 2006 the choice of Saint Auban (Alpes de Haute Provence) to build the first factory in the world entirely intended for the production of silicon polycristalin for the manufacturing of solar panels. The investment of 245 million Euro is expected to create 250 jobs in 2008. The construction of the factory is planned for the end of 2007 and production will most likely start by the end of 2008. In 2010, further investments may follow doubling or even tripling production and creating new jobs.
