Description
Hungarian Ministry of Justice and Law Enforcement (Igazságügyi ls Rendészeti Minisztérium) is planning to lay off 2,000 employees of the Hungarian Police Forces in the course of 2007. The dismissals form part of a restructuring of the Hungarian police forces aimed to create an efficient, simple and more transparent organisation. It would also coincide with merging the Border Guard Service and the National Police Forces (Országos Rendőr Főkapitányság, ORFK) expected for next year as well. In the framework of the restructuring seven regional police offices would be established instead of existing 19 county ones, thus making the employment of even 1,000 people in management, finance, HR or other support posts unnecessary. With the merging, the establishment of Border Guard offices is expected under the National Police Office, while regional Border guard stations would perform police duties as well, which would further decrease the number of staff.
