European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Torcidos Ibéricos, a manufacturer of nylon threads, announced on 1 March 2006 that it is going to initiate a redundancy procedure on 8 March 2006 for the closure of its two factories in Puig-reig and Castellbell i el Vilar, both in Barcelona.
The number of employees dismissed will be 156, most of them women.
The company has not been able to survive competition from China. The company had already dismissed 91 employees in 2005.
