Description
At least 450 jobs are to be created in Glasgow by First Data, the US group that processes electronic commerce and payment services around the world. The international arm of First Data, which is based in Colorado, recently signed a long-term agreement to provide credit card and loans processing for Barclaycard's partners in the UK. The decision is the latest boost to Glasgow's international financial services district (IFSD), which has created or safeguarded nearly 10,000 jobs since it was launched five years ago. The IFSD is being developed at Broomielaw, a formerly run-down section of the north bank of the Clyde, as a business area close to the city centre that can offer fast-track occupancy to UK or overseas financial organisations seeking to relocate.
