Description

British Airways is to sell BA Connect, its regional air transport operation, to air operator Flybe with the loss of 'a couple of hundred jobs'. Willie Walsh, BA chief executive, said the point-to-point regional operations of BA Connect, based chiefly in Manchester and Birmingham, were not considered a strategic core activity and would be 'better undertaken by a regional low-cost airline'.

BA Connect has a workforce of 1,900. Jim French, Flybe chief executive, said there would be 'a couple of hundred job losses'.
