The board of Hansen Transmissions approved an investment plan of over 140 million euros to expand their production capacity and R&D infrastructure. The first stage of this investment aims at expanding Hansen's production facilities in Belgium.
The investment in Belgium will create more than 300 new jobs in the plant of Lommel. One of the important goals of the investment plan is to maximise output of gearboxes for multi-megawatt wind turbines at the existing plant at Lommel, Belgium.
Since March 2006 the group Hansen Transmission is a part of the Indian Suzlon Energy Ltd. The company has two factories in Belgium (Lommel and Edegem), with a total workforce of 1,000 employees.
