Description
The medico-technical multinational company, Coloplast A/S, based in Denmark announced on 30 October 2006 that they plan to reduce the workforce in Denmark by half, i.e. 700 employees, during the next five years. Coloplast is specialised in providing innovative nursing products in ostomy care, continence care, skin care and wound care. The reason given for the job cuts is that, in the long term, the company wants to close down three factories in Denmark and move the production to Hungary, where the number of employees will increase. The delocalisation of production, which the employees' representatives have accepted, will not cause direct dismissals.
UPDATE August 2010: Planned job reductions amended to 500 to reflect subsequent developments, see fact sheet 14650.
